programming

We begin each project with a thorough analysis of the programme, taking into account the current and future needs of the customer, the end user, and the community at large. Using Scenario-Based Design, we develop scenarios that allow us to design new ways of living, working, learning and caring. We are constantly exploring potential synergies within complex and challenging projects. Through intense collaborations, we transform these explorations into solid architectural concepts that help redefine and optimise conventional organisations.

experience

From the masterplan to the finishing touches, at each phase of the project we prioritise the well-being of people. Using Evidence-Based Design principles and environmental psychology, we have developed several tools to analyse end-user experience and translate those results into the design process. In this way, we seek to increase our sensitivity as designers to the routines of daily life, to study their impact on the architectural experience and to discover how these experiences can help us create meaningful places.

sustainability

Following our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Flemish Government’s Green Deal for circular construction, and the citizens’ initiative Sign For My Future, we are developing innovative design methods to minimise the environmental impact of our projects. Acquired over the years, our expertise in circular construction is based on a careful analysis of existing materials and structures, adaptable construction design, and the creation of flexible use scenarios.

We also use Performance-Based Design simulations to investigate optimal energy solutions and integrate them early in the design process.

economy

Carrying out a project with rigour and professionalism requires a solid mastery of the economic parameters of construction. Thanks to decades of activity in the sector, we have been able to perfect our processes and our management tools. They allow us to share with our clients a clear and transparent vision of the progress of the project: regular reporting of all economic parameters including budget and planning.

Each of these pillars is integrated from the start of the design process in order to guarantee for each project both maximum performance and quality spaces delivered within budget. Our contextual approach is supported by a horizontal collaborative structure in which 140 architects, engineers, interior designers, urban planners, BIM modellers and researchers flourish. Through our four “live, care, learn, work” studios, and our Research and Innovation unit, we work together on an international portfolio of projects, continuously learning new collaborations, refining our approach to contextual architecture.
