archipelago and Cordeel win together the DBM for CM Limburg
Over the next two years, the new headquarters of CM Limburg will be built on Blauwe Boulevard in Hasselt. The building will be constructed parallel to the Hasselt ring and integrated with the still-to-be-built Demer Park. The design is the result of the integrated ‘performance and scenario-based’ contextual design method used at archipelago. Our WELL and BREEAM specialists were also involved in the design process.
The building will be the new home port for CM staff and visitors, with an important emphasis on comfort and experience. It will house the following functions: MC office, reception/atrium, crèche, relaxation, conference, brasserie, parking & loading/unloading, storage & travel services, multi-purpose room for volunteers, mobility services, offices, facilities services.
CM as a Health Fund
This entails promoting movement within the building along the spine, which forms the beating heart. The spine will offer opportunities for informal meetings, various working methods, collaboration areas and a relaxing coffee break. This layout fully supports the principles of the ‘new way of working’.
The openwork staircases take users through various ‘experiences’: open, transparent, inspiring and stimulating.
Close integration with the new Demer Park will ensure a pleasant working environment and maximum interaction with the green outdoors. The outdoor seating areas on the ground level and roofs will serve as both outdoor working and relaxation areas.
The building meets the sustainability requirements established thanks to its high degree of flexibility and modularity. The building will comprise four volumes connected by way of skirting mouldings. Each of these volumes will have its own stairs/lift and, if necessary, can be divided.
