archipelago wins competition for Building 76 at UCLouvain Woluwé

archipelago has won the competition for Building 76 at UCLouvain Woluwé, in collaboration with MATRIciel, Setesco and ATS.

The project connects to the 10 existing towers at the UCL Health Sciences Sector and follows a circular design approach.

Building 76 will be the new home of the Duve Institute. It will function as a tool for synergy, to promote a multidisciplinary collaboration between researchers, doctors and professors.

The design is driven by flexible use and a focus on bio-based and durable materials (wood, ceramics, reuse), as well as renewable energy (natural ventilation, photovoltaics, rainwater recovery) and sustainable comfort (daylight, natural cooling and promoting biodiversity on the site).

Building 76 is part of a GRO certification process, a tool for which archipelago, amongst others, was involved as expert circular building and climate-adaptive design.
