archipelago wins competition for town hall in Grimbergen
On September 24, archipelago’s winning design for an extension of the town hall will be officially presented by the mayor of Grimbergen. The extension will include public functions, a library and new offices. To optimize the internal functioning, a connection is made with the existing town hall via two passerelles. The outdoor public space takes optimal account of the existing trees and connects with the historic square through the materiality of the design.
“The municipal council was charmed by the modest architectural elaboration of the project. Materials that are often used in the historic village center of Grimbergen have been used in a contemporary way in the design of archipelago. As a result, the new building is in harmony with its surroundings and the architecture supports the local context. “
