archipelago wins competition Joseph Bracops Hospital in Anderlecht

Joseph Bracops Hospital in Anderlecht: archipelago architects and NU architectuuratelier won the competition for the construction of a polyclinic and a medical-technical block.

Hôpital Joseph Bracops

Joseph Bracops Hospital, part of the IRIS Sud network in Brussels is located directly next to the football stadium in Anderlecht. The international competition, supervised by the Bouwmeester Kristiaan Borret team, aimed to build a new 5,000 m² polyclinic and a new 3,500 m² medical-technical block.

The winning project proposes an ambitious and evolving masterplan that aims to densify the urban site in order to create a public garden shared with the neighbours. The principles of the circular economy are fully integrated from the beginning of the project: use of local and sustainable materials, reversibility of buildings, “zero energy” principles and thoughtful prefabrication. Finally, the development of both inside and outside public spaces promotes the sustainable integration of the hospital into its urban context. In collaboration with BUUR cvba, Ellyps s.a., MATRIciel, MC carré and COSEP sa.
