Brussels Airport – Swissport takes new office building into use
After the opening of the state-of-the-art Pharma Center in October 2019, a second milestone in the redevelopment of the transshipment building 704 on the cargo zone of Brussels Airport was reached with the commissioning of a new office building for Swissport. The design was entrusted by Brussels Airport Company to archipelago and Groep Infrabo and was executed by Cordeel and Cegelec.
Adaptability as a given
An airport handler offers office space to customers and therefore needs a robust infrastructure that can be adapted to their rapidly changing needs.
The new office building is designed as an open structure covered with a high-performance façade made of exposed concrete. The floors are divided into individual office spaces using removable internal walls. The extensive modulation of the building structure and the technical installations, as well as the use of raised floors, make it possible to change the layout with limited interventions.
In the third and final phase, the acceptance area will be renewed and the renovation of the existing transshipment building will be completed. The provisional completion date is October 2021.
