Domaine du Neckersgat in Uccle: first phase completed

The first phase of the project to transform the National Institute for War Veterans into a specialised centre for the elderly has been completed. The centre will offer 150 beds, all in a green setting and on a site with rich historical heritage. The full program includes a nursing home, a daycare centre and a service residence.

At the heart of the project, the new care centre is placed in an ‘English-style’ landscape park, which has been fully restored to reveal its natural beauty. Paths, clearings, gardens and a pond: everything has been designed to equally promote biodiversity and integrate the site into the context of the Brussels’ green belt.

For the inside, well-being drives the design process: natural light, acoustics, shared spaces and rooms opening to nature. An integrated and sustainable approach that respects both the heritage and the comfort of the new residents.
