New cloister for the Kruisheren in Maaseik completed

Due to a re-organization of the Kruisheren school community, the Kruisheren priests looked for a new home and found a perfect vacant plot just next to the Kruisheren church, in the centre of Maaseik.

The result is a modern cloister building that is rooted in a long architectural tradition. With contemporary elements integrated in the design, such as the green roofs and prefab components, the typology and choice of materials references the rich history of cloister architecture. The newly constructed cloister’s corridor ties this vision together by literally connecting the new home for the Kruisheren priests with the existing Kruisheren church.
