Sequenza housing project completed
The Sequenza luxury housing project is completed – a restauration, transformation and extension project, fitting 15 appartments into a neo-classical buildingfor logistics, located on the emblematic site of the Prince Albert barracks, in the heart of Brussels.
This is the fourth phase of the project, totalling more than 120 housing units. The complex is organised around a central garden and is conducive to soft mobility in the area.
With the choice of materials and the composition of the façade, we kept in line with the elegance of the original architecture. Even though some of the floors and parts of the rear facade needed to be demolished, we aimed for careful additions that preserve the original expression while upgrading the energy performance.
Due to its south-west orientation, the project uses a structural approach to achieve optimal comfort. The solid façade at the side of the street offers capacity for thermal storage. The glass façade on the side the courtyard uses bronze-lacquered aluminium sunshading to avoid overheating while allowing ample daylight entering the living areas and preserving views on the central garden.
