With deep sadness we announce the passing of Emile Verhaegen.
Graduated in Civil Engineering and Architecture in 1959, founder of the Bureau d’Architecture Emile Verhaegen and an associate professor at the UCLouvain, he was a mentor to many of us.

The older colleagues remember his tall figure leaning over the drawing tables, and later over the screens, to question us, encourage us or give us the right impetus for the project.
He inspired us with an architecture at the service of those who live there, an architecture sensitive to the context and to the public good, an architecture for life.
archipelago pays tribute to him by following in his footsteps.
Our thoughts are with his family, to whom we offer, on behalf of archipelago, our sincere condolences.
